I'm Dr. David Duizer - Naturopathic Doctor, Strength Coach & Former University Athlete

Over the past 10 years I've worked with athletes to optimize their performance through evidence-based training, nutrition, and physiological testing.

But my passion for speed development is personal.

I was a multi-sport athlete growing up - track and field, cross country, baseball, hockey, and basketball. I went on to play university basketball for the Royal Military College of Canada, where I was starting point guard, team MVP, led the nation in minutes played, and earned Academic All-Canadian honors for two years.

We had elite strength coaches. We trained twice daily. We were the fittest team in the nation.

But I never reached my speed goals.

Despite access to top-level training, plyometrics, and sprint work, something was missing. Now, after a decade of study and clinical practice, I know exactly why: my fast-twitch muscle development was blunted by poorly-timed endurance training.

Running 5Ks on the same days as jump training. Mixing muscular endurance work with power sessions. The contradiction prevented my speed work from translating into actual speed gains.

I created Youth Speed Fundamentals to give young athletes the framework I didn't have - the one that protects and develops true speed during the critical years between 7-12.

Here's How It Works: Your 6-Week Speed Development Plan

  1. Secure Your Spot
    Register today and reserve your child's place in the program. Sessions begin April 2nd, 2026 and run every Thursday evening at 3:15 PM. With limited spots available to ensure individual attention, early enrollment is recommended.

  2. Train, Progress, and Build Speed
    Each week, your child will participate in a 90-minute session following the RAMP protocol (Raise, Activate, Mobilize, and Potentiate), Fundamentals of Movement, and Contrast Training to enable Post-activation Potential. Every session builds on the last, progressively increasing in difficulty while cycling through sprint mechanics, jump training, agility work, and power development.

  3. See Measurable Results
    By the end of 6 weeks, your child will move faster, jump higher, and change direction more efficiently than when they started. Final assessments with professional-grade timing will document their improvements across the 10-yard dash, 20-yard dash, 40-yard dash, and lateral shuffle.

More importantly, they'll leave with the mechanical foundation and training knowledge to continue getting faster for years to come - the framework most young athletes never learn.

  • What if my child can't make it to a session or needs to miss a week?

    • Life happens. While consistent attendance gives the best results, missing one session won't derail progress. However, this is a live, in-person training program - there are no make-up sessions or recordings. Each week builds on the previous one, so we recommend prioritizing attendance when possible.

  • Is this appropriate for kids with no athletic background?

    • Absolutely. This program is designed for young athletes ages 7-12 at any level - from complete beginners to experienced multi-sport athletes. Every child receives individual coaching and modifications based on their current ability. We focus on proper technique and personal improvement, not competition with others.

  • Will this actually make my child faster?

    • Yes. This program uses professional-grade timing equipment to measure progress at weeks 1, 3, and 6. When young athletes learn proper mechanics and train with smart programming that protects fast-twitch development, speed improvements are measurable and consistent. Parents receive assessment results upon request.

  • How is this different from regular sports practice or speed camps?

    • Most programs focus on volume - more sprints, more drills, more conditioning. Youth Speed Fundamentals focuses on mechanics and physiology. We teach proper sprint technique, protect fast-twitch muscle development by avoiding contradictory endurance work, and use evidence-based programming (the RAMP protocol) designed specifically for youth athletes.
